Members houseofglass21
The MP-1 has a pretty unique voicing. Why not just get one of those? There's a bunch on eBay right now and you could probably snag one pretty cheap.
Members serolF
Yeah, I thought about that. I used to own an ADA years ago, but it died on me pretty quickly (about a year after purchase). I might've just had a bad one, but from what I remember, it sounded pretty sweet. The quality and age is the only thing holding me back from buying one. But it's definitely a possiblity.
Members houseofglass21
In my experience the ones I've owned have been pretty reliable. Sometimes the battery or the tubes need to be changed. You can probably find one with some of the mods done already for a pretty good price. I have one right with the MDRT mod (replacement transformer which beefs up the sound), noise mod, and battery mod done that I got for pretty cheap off a guy on craigslist. Make no mistake though, the power amp you use has a big effect on how good it's going to sound. Tube all the way IMO.
