Members K2000
Sbarros sucks... generic Italian food chain, found in the shopping malls. If you're in Chelsea, they have GREAT New York style bagels at Murray's Bagels on 8th Ave. between 22nd and 23rd street. So good they don't even need to be toasted. Get a bagel with cream cheese for brekkie or a snack. I like their smoked whitefish salad on an "everything" bagel but it will ruin your breath for the day. Will deter panhandlers though.http://www.mbchelsea.com/ 30th Street guitars is worth a walk, it's a smallish shop but everything in there is choice, and some unusual finds.http://www.30thstreetguitars.com/ I actually recommend going up to the observation deck on top of the Empire State building. It's 20 dollars (ouch) and you have to wait in line for maybe a half hour (an hour if it's busy) but they let you stay as long as you want, and the view is STUNNING (360 degree deck). Seriously cool! If the sky is clear, it rules (think twice if it's misty - can't see very far then).http://www.newyorkpass.com/ny-empire-state-building.asp Ground Zero just looks like a big construction site. Nothing to see, except the size of the footprint might surprise you. Look at it if you're in the area (probably not) otherwise probably not worth a special trip. I kinda like the Staten Island ferry... free if you stay onboard and ride back again (they only charge you if you debark in Staten Island). Stand on the front deck as you come back in, and the view of Manhattan as you approach by boat is fantastic! The Statue of Liberty is on the right hand side on the way out, and vice versa coming back. Members 89strat
I don't get the Sbarro thing either. Go to John's on Bleecker and get a brick oven pie or something. Unfortunately the days of any ole pizza place in the city having good pizza are gone. It's hard to get a good slice, it's not easy getting a good bagel either. There's Matt Umanov Guitars on Bleecker also.
