Members p00n
Like for holes for pots, LEDs, jacks etc. Which sizes do you use? Best if you know the model numbers. Thanks in advance people
Members ben_allison
The smallest one that goes from 1/8" to 1/2" is perfect. The largest holes are for the 3PDT switches and dc jacks. They're 1/2". For all other holes, the exact sizes are represented.
Members duderanimous
I use the #1 which goes from 1/8" to 1/2"These things and a drill press make drilling a hassle free experience
Members ben_allison
I want a drill press .
Members p00n
Thanks guys! I'd love a press too but I'll probably try to wing it with a cordless drill. Should I invest in a punch and a thin bit for some guide holes? Or just go all ghetto on it's ass with a nail and a hammer to make an indentation? Members Reauchambeau
why not just buy the proper size bits, and a 1/16 or 1/8 for pilot holes. those uni bits are for the Home Depot crowd aren't they?
Members p00n
It is more convenient, less changing bits etc. I think it works out to be cheaper than getting a whole set
Members Reauchambeau
It is more convenient, less changing bits etc. I think it works out to be cheaper than getting a whole set you don't have to buy a set, you can buy quality individual bits at good tool suppliers. the same bit will do pots and jacks, I think it's 5/16, I'm going on memory and could be wrong. you probably only need 3-4 bits, and it might be easy to use individual bits sans drill press. just a thought. Members ben_allison
Unibits debur too. I've tried both regular bits and the unibits. Unibit is WAY better. More circular, smoother holes.
Members Staredge
Harbor Freight. Got a set of three for less than $10 on sale. Much cheaper than buying the brand name, and seem to work fine. Not going to hold up to regular hard usage....but how hard are you going to work it???
Members Coma Larkin
Get a used drill press for $40. It's $$ well-spent.
Members IvIark
I measured all the offboard components I use with some digital calipers so I could get the hole sizes as close as possible, and this is the list: Part Actual BitAlpha Potentiometers 6.78mm 5/16"9V DC (non switched) 7.78mm 8mm9V DC (switched) 11.7mm 12mm1/4" Sockets 8.76mm 3/8"3PDT Footswitch 11.7mm 12mmLED (3mm with metal bezel) 5.56mm 6mmI've got 1 metric and 1 imperial step drill bit that covers everything.
