Members aplaneinphases
I know, i know. There are a ton of these threads but I need advice. base MB vs. base MBPro I need a MacBook to replace my iMac since I need to move it around for recording, studying, etc. I have my eyes on the 2 stated above. The heaviest app I'll probably use is Logic Express. Don't have any memory hungry VSTs or anything. Just Steven Slate Drums via Kontakt. I cannot see much difference between except for ram and the backlit keyboard. Now I wouldn't mind springing for the MBP but where I live it's 400$ more instead of 200$. Worth it? Or should I stick to the MB? :poke:
Members RadioSilence
i've got a 3 year old black macbook and it runs logic fine 2.16 GHz with 2 GB ram. i'd get the biggest screen you can for working on a DAW though - the bigger the better. Members aplaneinphases
Yeah, that was one reason I was reluctant to move away from my iMac since I'll mainly use it around the house. However, something larger than 13" would be too pricey for me.

Members -DC/AC-
One difference is that the Macbook does not have a firewire input, the Macbook Pro does. I don't know if that matters to you but its something.

Members -DC/AC-
it should, for recording Yeah that's why I would get a Macbook Pro. I wasn't sure what the OP's exact needs were, but firewire is definately a plus.
Members Vinnie_Mac
A lot of modern recording gear has USB 2.2, with speeds that approach Firewire, but without Firewire's consistent data throughput. In short, get the MBP. The extra $400 is worth it for the FireWire, Al chassis, Backlit Keyboard, and DOUBLE RAM. Those white MacBooks sure are sexy, though.
