Ive heard that there are some ALL tube ones but all of them that Ive been able to play have solid state preamps with a pair of 6CA7 (EL34) output section. My buddie across the way has one that also uses a 12ax7 phase inverter to drive the power tubes but the pre still uses transistors. Try one before you buy they deffinately arent for everyone. No all tube-models. The ones that have a tube phase inverter are older, and more desirable. The've got some really wierd things going on schematically, but they've got a pretty nice clean sound. Members Josh33 Posted July 12, 2010 Members Share Posted July 12, 2010 this thread is in my interest... my neighbor has a music man head, and a huge ass fender cab along with a bunch of other old guitars, basses, amps, PA equiptment, etc.. that he has had in his garage for the last 40 years and he is selling me a great deal of it! i dont know much about the music man amps so any info would be great! i believe the head he has is a early-mid 70s all tube. not real sure of model number or anything, but ill find out soon! anything to look out for?
