Like those tests where 5 people are to decide whether a 6 foot tall man is taller than a 5 foot tall man, but 4 have been told to say the 5 foot tall man is obviously taller, so the 5th person goes against their better judgement and says the same. Members mlabbee Posted October 5, 2010 Members Share Posted October 5, 2010 those experiments are for real - I've seen tests where they give people wine in opaque sippy cups and the participants typically can't tell if it's white or red. I think that just proves we taste with all our senses, though - including vision. On the cost thing, I believe they've actually done brain scans that show the brain reacting differently based on the perceived cost of the wine being consumed. Apparently, we are conditioned to like expensive things :-) All that has done is encourage me to buy more expensive wines to satisfy my highly conditioned brain - and use very clear glasses :-) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
