Members Ken.Rocks
I'm looking for a Synth for my wife that has very good high quality sounds. Weight is a consideration also, it should not be too heavy and easy to carry. She would like high quality Piano and String sounds first and foremost because they are the most important to her. This Keyboard would be just used for playing live in a band that covers Pop/Rock and Classic Rock material. There is no need for a high end workstation. 61 keys are all she needs. What would you recommend that we look at? So far looking around the internet, we see the Korg X50 as a possibility, nice and light, but the Piano sound samples on youtube don't really impress her. Thanks!
Members ChristianRock
Roland Juno G? It will have a workable piano sound and a lot more stuff. Also, Yamaha MM6 if she's not going to tweak the sounds much.If weigh wasn't so much a problem, I'd suggest a used Alesis Fusion 6HD.
Members Delicious Lamprey Problem
Kurzweil PC3 61-key. Should be available by December.
Members ChristianRock
If that Kurz retails for something like 1,999 it will surely be a hit. But the ones I suggested are way under a grand (and used except for the Yamaha MM6).
Members Delicious Lamprey Problem
Ah, gotcha. I was focusing on "very good high quality sounds" and "piano and string", which has Kurz written all over it.
Members enx
I'd second that for the Juno-G they can be obtained for about $600 used and are extremely light
Members AJP
Korg N5EX. Unbeatable bang for buck.
Members llamastorm
I misread this as "suggest a synth for live Pop Rocks gigs". Just don't combine them with Coke. or Mentos, for that matter.

Members stikygum
Anyone use Tritons anymore? Not like I did, but just wondering if they went out of style. Last I checked cover bands still were using them.
