Members unit11
I'm looking for a nice gainy tube amp. My band plays classic rock and metal. We play stuff like Zeppelin, Metallica, and AC/DC. We also play some EVH stuff, which is why I even bothered looking at these monsters. Now I've heard enough about its gain know that they serve it well, but I was wondering if it would really be worth it as a choice for amp head. Can it do an AC/DC type sound? Do they tighten up well for metal?
Members Megadeth7684
Sounds like you would be better off with a Marshall, but yes, the 5150 would do what you described.

Members Sordid1
yeah, the 51506505 can do all of that. If you need a clean sound get a 5150II and have the bias mod done so it will warm it up some. In my last band my other guitarist had a 5150II and our songs went from clean to all out metal and it handled it all in stride.

Members Ke^in
Why don't you go down to the local guitar store and try it out yourself?

I have no where to test out a 5150 in my area. And if I would want to test anything above the AVT line of Marshalls, I would have to drive an hour into Pittsburgh. People don't make posts like this unless they can't test out the gear they're interested in.
