it's for controlling the low end and has very little to no effect on the tone. it's solely for making room in the mix.

Apparently it's just to control how the lowend of the amp's will sit in the mix. People interested can listen to the difference between KSE's first and second album to compare.

Guitarman967 is correct, and for what it's worth I talked to Adam when they played here and he told me they used Shure SM57's and AKG3000's to mic the cabs in the studio.

 

 

now if someone could just find out what preamps (neve, chandler, api, etc.) that would be great. also, rose of sharyn is an incredible song. i'm still trying to find a correct tab for it.
