I use it with no pedals and I have tons of pedals. Now my practice set-up is so simple for my blues playing. I'll still drag out my other amp and pedals for my heavy metal stuff. Kinda' expensive for 5 watts but once you hear it it's worth every penny. My wife came in the room as I was playing and look strangely at the amp as I was playing and said " where are your pedals?", When I told her that there were no pedals she said" why didn't you just buy this amp in the first place instead of all the money you wasted on those God Damn pedals!" . I hear it starts to break up about 9 o'clock? It breaks up at about 12 o'clock , you have to start using your guitars volume and tone knobs, something I never really did before. I turn it to about 3 o'clock and roll the guitar volume back and adjust guitar volume for overdriven sounds. Sweeeet!It has some great clean tone also!
