Members peppy
Speakers. Unless you're talking about changing to a whole different type of power tube...otherwise, speakers.
Members vlad
Speakers... Unless your tubes are totally shot.
Members mamberg
which brand of tubes? does make a difference, but the range is probably not that great as different brands of speakers. old tubes to be replaced with new tubes can make a huge difference if your tubes are shot. tubes compared to solid state - no comparison speakers can make a big difference, even between 'Name' brands that are highly respected. what do you have, and what are you looking for? Members bullhead
speakers. think about it: the speakers are the only part of an amp that you actually hear.

It's actually kinda strange how I got to thinking about it. I have a Digitech RP-7 Valve that I use with headphones during the few moments where I don't feel like pissing off the neighbors. I decided, based on the user reviews on this site, to swap out the tube (went from a Sovtek 12AX7 to a JJ). I then decided to buy a VHT Valvulator. They both made a difference, but it was very subtle. Good, but subtle. I had to strain my ears to tell the difference. Then while I was fooling around with the RP-7's speaker cab emulator, I noticed that the distortion patches would go from smooth to raspy as I cycled through the "cabs".
