Members thefyn
Is all I have to do is buy a matched pair of Tung-Sol 12AX7 and plug them in? Do i have to bias it etc because I cant do that stuff. Don't even know what it means...SS for too long~! In tube depot there is a Testing : Hi-Gain (+$2.00) option? Will that give me more gain>? Or is it just tested under hi gain conditions? all I want is to get the highest gain tubes for thrash and I hear the new tungs are good... Any help would be great Cheers!!!! Members Code-001
You don't bias preamp tubes and you don't need to buy matched or anything like that either. A lot of people place a balanced tube in the phase inverter slot though. That's the tube that's not in line with the rest of them.
Members -=MYK=-
If you leave one of the preamp tubes out of the circuit it will give the amp a less aggressive tone.
Members mctallica1
Call Doug at Dougs Tubes. Discuss what you are trying to accomplish and ask his reccomendation for preamp tubes. Buy whatever he reccomends from him. He knows his {censored} and his prices are very fair;)
