Is there string resonance on the CP80 now? What about the Rhodes or Wurlitzers Clavs? It's noted clearly on the acoustic pianos since they are offered in small, medium, and large sample sizes. Then, there is no mention of any resonance in the electric pianos... but if you look at the Harpsichord page, the notes at the bottom say they used the string resonance feature, despite the small size of the samples there relative to the acoustic pianos, and the lack of any other mention of resonance on that page. It is mentioned that the difference in size is down to resonance samples, though. Is sampling (ROMpling) the only way that the Nord Piano can create resonance?

The acoustic grand pianos and uprights are available in three sizes; large, medium and small. It is worth noting that these three uses the exact same amount of zones and velocity levels, which means that they have the same great expressiveness and sound quality. The differences between the sizes are in the amount of String Resonance samples.

Anyone know how many velocity levels there are? How does this compare with other stage pianos?

Err..

Rhodes and Wurlis have no strings, so you ain't gonna have string resonance. Clavs have no dampers that lift and no soundboard, so you ain't gonna have string resonance either.

I realize how those pianos work.. I own a couple Wurlitzers, CP70Bs, Clav D6, etc. They do have resonance of course, just different. Any of these can be overdriven with an amp to make this effect more obvious, but I don't expect amp overdrive/feedback modeling (yet). And because the effect is particularly subtle on a Wurli or Rhodes, I wouldn't think it would be missed as much. But a CP80 certainly has strings and resonance! And there is no mention of resonance samples in the harpsichord instruments... so what gives?

New platform with 56 sounds for Nord Stage and Electro 3, some of them completely new, like the "Sparkletop" and "Bright Tines" epiano sounds.

Nord Piano Library V5 is a new platform for the Nord Piano sounds, a platform that was developed originally for the Nord Piano. This functionality and the sounds are now available for the Stage EX series, with upcoming support for the Stage Classic and the Electro 3.

The v5 platform includes both new and re-mastered sounds in the highly acclaimed Nord Piano Library, a new version of the Sound Manager with an integrated USB driver installer (Windows versions only) and a new OS for the Stage EX series. The USB driver is not only signed by us as a trusted publisher known by Microsoft, it is furthermore WHQL certified which means that you will not have endure the warning dialogs during installation anymore.

The Nord Classic and the Electro 3 will get a necessary OS update scheduled for late June 2010 that will make these units compatible with the v5 piano sounds as well.
