Members rub1off&tie1on
Can you use just the cab sims in a POD, and how would it sound running an amps lineout into them? (my amp's lineout is post power amp, so it would send the whole signal, not just preamp)
Members Mr. Brady
Yes, you'll still need a load on the amp though with either speakers or a hot plate so you don't ruin the transformer. I did this with the JSX I had and it worked fine. Not the best tone, but decent enough. hal9000 has some clips he's recorded of his mesa F series this way if I recall correctly. Members cobrahead1030
i know a few guys have done this using a thd hotplate, and then into a pod xt from that i don't have the software to do it, but a lot of people have home-made cab sims from impulse files (which you get from recording an actual cab) and have had better results
Members eSoTeRiK
I have got some pretty good tones from my F-50 by doing this as well.
Members Exocaster
I've done this with a handful of different Marshalls (Valvestate, TSL) and Boogies (Mark IV, Stiletto) and an XT, just taking a line out from the effects send into the Pod with everything but the cab sims disabled. I had the head running into a cab as per normal, just with the master low. It's not bad; a little more "natural" than the Pod itself, especially the high end. Members TomCTC
Definitely possible. Personally, I would rather swap speakers in the cab I already have.
