Members mikelpanky
Any clue on how to recreate that ever-classic 80s bass smack sound? I've heard it in tons of records, but the one that made me think of it (and start trying to recreate it) was Domino Dancing by Pet Shop Boys. I was watching a BBC Synth pop documentary and realized/remembered how much I love that sound. Any ideas? Part of me says it's FM, but then again, I can't really tell. Members soundwave106
Yeah, I think it's a DX7 / FM type machine. See: DX7 preset 15: BASS 1. Seems to have extra edge compared to the original sound, but I'm sure that'd be easy to add.
Members liliththekitten
Ha, same one that's in all the 80's freestyle Latin songs I think. Expose's producer worked on this tune. I always assumed it was FM.

Members OPEN OCEAN
sounds like FM in the good old days, many hits with minimal gear compared to now.
Members mikelpanky
According to my Emax sample discs, it's a "Clean" DX7 bass sound. Exactly what I was looking for, thank Emu!
