Members KingVidiot
Excellent concept. I'll work on the synthesis based on differential equations.(Actually, I bet modeling, particularly for acoustic instruments, requires some of the good ol' calculus...) Actually you can do some cool synthesis with Mathematica software. I did some fiddling with Bessel functions once and it sounded pretty cool. Members KingVidiot
Photographs can also be used as sources for additive synthesis (see Camel Audio Alchemy). I use PhotoNoise on my iPad.

A buddy of mine told me 20 years ago that programming Yamaha FM was simple if you understood Bessel functions...just the sort of thing two geeky engineers babble about over a few beers :poke:
Members psionic11
For Android smartphones there is an app called "Caustic" which lets you draw the waveforms for the synth. So there you have synthesis based on geometry or free-form but symmetric 2D lines (linear algebra). Can get some nice PPG-like waveforms on the cheap this way...
Members Mooginator
I heard the guys at the plant are working on a new type of synthesis called photosynthesis.

Yeah, apparently Eric Persing was experimenting with that for a lot of stuff in the Distorted Reality sound libraries.
