They don't do well in V1....I used a JJ ECC83 gold pin and it killed in my Avenger... That's the exact tube combo Soldano shipped my Decatone with, JJ in V1, LPS in the rest. It sounded great, so I didn't {censored} with it until the JJ went microphonic. I had a Tungsol laying around, and stuck that in. It sounds great!! A little more cut.
