Does the audio need to be output from all 3 of them into a mixer or some combination of adapters, or can I output audio from one with the other two linked with the sync cables?

cresshead is correct, you may read of people trying to sum adapters physically together but audio is a varying dc output and linking them together is not going to do the units any good...  Mixers are designed to mix and very useful to have...

Oh, I was a little confused because some promotional material didn't look like they were running audio out of all 3. So I guess it's running two into a y adapter into another y with the third until I get a mixer heh!

I finaly received my Volca Keys, it's a great little synth. But I don't think the active step sequencer works as it is supposed to, I can't get it working.

Anyway, I hooked it up to my KP3 via the MIDI out(of the KP3) and it syncs the BPM's, so that's cool. I went to hook it up to my Microbrute but they both only have MIDI in. Today I'll find out about the other inputs on the Microbrute, it has pitch out, gate in, and gate out inputs, so hopefully I can get the two sequencers synced up somehow before I get a MIDI interface. I was hoping I could use the Microbrute keyboard. I'll also mess around with running the Volca audio through it, and see if I can do anything with the patch inputs in the mod matrix of the Microbrute.

with only midi in...it cannot transmit to drive a volca keys over a standard midi cable

the volca keys does not have cv/gate interface,,,so no go there either!

...the minibrute does have midi in and OUT i'd note!

you could play the volca keys via the microbute if you hook up the usb connector to a puter then a midi cable out of the computer to the midi in of the volca keys!

..should have got a arturia minibrute! ...yes i'm being annoying!

'SYNC jack and MIDI IN connector allow synchronized performance with multiple units or with your DAW

By using the sync jack you can enjoy synchronized playback with multiple volcas or with a monotribe. You can also use the "SyncKontrol" iPhone app to wirelessly control tap tempo, swing settings, and synchronized playback with iOS music apps via WIST.'

From Korg.com. But I don't have an iPad anymore. Anyway, I think the Volca I received is defective or something, and might return it for another. But I did mess around with the Microbrute, and I got weird stuff when running the Volca into it's audio input, and the sync out to the Microbrute's gate in but only with the Microbrute sequencer on. When I hold down a key on the Microbrute it plays the Volca sequence but if I turn up the OSC's on the brute it plays notes along with the Volca sequence. Or I can play the Microbrute sequencer at the same time as the Volca and then try to sync them up manually. But if I run them both into my KP3 I can sample and layer them so that makes it easier.

I couldn't afford a Minibrute, I got the Micro to fool around with until I get my main synths. It's not bad, new and only $300 so I gave in and got one. I planned on needing a MIDI interface eventually, it would be nice to have one now! I thought about syncing the KP3 and Microbrute to Maschine via USB and the KP3 to the Volca with MIDI but I need more USB cables...I already took the one from my printer, heh

Yeah I was wondering what there is for another $200, the Volca Keys and Microbrute are great to have available at these prices. I would have loved to have them a few years ago. But they actually compete with most of the software synths that I have tried, outside of pad and super-synth type sounds.

Oh yeah, the another thing about the Volca is that I wish I had a power adapter. $26 from sweetwater?! I worry about losing my saved sequences when I have to change the batteries. Someone should makesome kind of daisy-chaining adapter so you only need one adapter for all three. For $26 its not even a sideways one that fits in a power strip with other plugs.

To stay positive I edited out my moan about the incompleteness of these very affordable Volca's, but now you mention it ;-)

Google is your friend, I have seen some specialist multi out power supplies for effects units. Do a search and see what you find...

You need to know the exact power requirements before wasting any money or blowing those boxes

Already on it! I found this, but I don't know if the Volca and KP3 power inputs are the same as guitar pedals. But Korg would be good to make one of these with three outputs and a longer 4th for a KP or whatever.

The Volca Keys says 9 volts on it. So I guess it will work as long as the sizes are the same and the Volca or KP3 adapter fits the input.
