Members Dolf Posted November 9, 2007 Members Share Posted November 9, 2007 So I've been trying to find another speaker to compliment the G12h30's in my avatar 4x12 since I've been getting sick of the Vintage 30s and their inherent harshness. I was asking about over at the 18watt forums and one of the things suggested to me by a couple of the people there was "detuning" th cabinet (removing the two speakers I don't want, placing the other two on the top and leaving the open speakers mounts on the bottom of the cabinet as "untuned ports") making for a more open back cabinet sound/design but with all the sound coming out the front. Two questions: 1. has anybody tried this and what were your results? 2. does anybody have any speaker suggestions that I might not have thought of (I've been thinking Greenback, Blue, or Eminence Red Fang). Any input is appreciated, and regardless, I'm going to try the "detuning" thing when I get home from being away this weekend. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
