Members Deathmrcher
I own a VHT 2/50/2, and it is the first time I have had to deal with biasing an amp. I know that I can plug something into the tube sockets of the VHT and read what it is biased at, but do the tubes also have to be manipulated? Or do I just need some that match the bias of the amp? Members wiseblood
there should be an adjustment inside the amp. don't die.
Members Deathmrcher
what I really want to do is just find what the amp is set at, and have Doug's Tubes send me what I need. As I understand, the amp doesn't drift, so as long as he send well matched tubes, I can just keep reordering at the same settings.
Members l8t+neverbetter
Are you a tech? I'm pretty sure there isnt anything user readable in the case for bias set on a pot. If you dont know how to drain and tap a capacitor, keep out.

To order exact replacement tubes you need to know the Plate Voltage of your amp and what the current tubes are biased at. I lookd for a schematic for your amp but couldn't find one, so I don't know if your amp has an accessable bias pot. What does VHT say in the owners manual? Members Deathmrcher
The VHT has two bias pots, one per channel A and B.
Members l8t+neverbetter
The dude that runs R&D for Groove Tubes is awesome. He publishes a primer for tubes and would help you out. Try him. Before you stick your hands (fork) into an amp and become a tap and meet Jesus.

Members Twebbz
It's easier for someone else to do it for you. Mine's in the shop now for biasing, switching from TAD EL34B to Winged "C" 6L6GC. I'm not about to stick my fingers in there and fuss with it. I've gotten "stung" before. Believe me, it's an eye openner!
