...Thought they'd be good.... looked good.... kind of like a pastry/poptart... guavas are good... guava empanadas must be good too, right? Nope. Maybe if I try again and this time I microwave one instead of eating it cold? Nope, just got hard and still tasted horrible.

Epic fail.

you don't like 'em?

Gotta heat 'em up man, Honestly you really should eat them fresh and hot.

Of course the only place I get them is the hispanic bakery right around the corner, so I may be spoiled. That and "Havana's" in West Palm

could definitely be stale or even undercooked.

They're supposed to be soft an flaky. If they're hard and/or overly chewy then they're garbage, no wonder you didn't like 'em.

You know you can get all the stuff to make those yourself. They're dirt cheap and tend to come out well.

you can add fresh guava or other stuff (more sugar, etc) if you want, but that's basically it.

I just can't do it.

For some reason I have this unbreakable association with penuts in my mmind as being "Dry, Salty."

Wet penuts freak my head out. Can't eat it, the texture is all wrong. I'll take spicy DRY penuts any day of the week, though.
