hmmm... just wondering, do you think its possible to write a compelling song just around one chord?? Does anyone know of any examples whre this has been done? or even just two chords??

sounds like a serious challenge...

One Chord Song: Tomorrow Never Knows, Beatles.

Couldn't thin of any others.

But there are batches of classic two-chord romps...

Two Chords:

Feelin Alright - Traffic

Horse with No Name

Something in the Way - Nirvana

Not Fade Away - Buddy Holly/ Rolling Stones

What I Got, Sublime.

Born in the U.S.A.

Roadrunner, Modern Lovers

Whole Wide World, Wreckless eric

Three Marlena's - Wall Flowers

Waiting for the Man and Heroin - Velvet Underground

That's the Way (I like it) K.C. & The Sunshine

A song I play out is JAMBALAYA. It only has TWO chords for the entire song. C and G7

I was just thinking the same about some of Dan Auerbach's stuff, not complex at all like 2 chords for the main riff, but the feeling is there.

And Junior Kimbrough's "Release me" is one of my favorites too.

maybe maybe by nico stai

jesus by brand new

they might not have one chord but they dont change chords all the time

ive noticed that i only change chords when i need to. a lot of my friends write chord progressions. i used to do that until i realized that i personally sound much better when i just write the song and let the sound decide when i should change chords
