Members chris_d Posted July 20, 2008 Members Share Posted July 20, 2008 I thought the McEwans was decent, but for the Scottish ales, i really like the Orkney Skullplitter. That may be the perfect winter beer for me. Tasty. There is something about the combination of flavors in a scotch ale that i really dig. It is about as close to the "wine-like" beers as i will get. I like that it has some of the qualities of those types of beers, but retains always its 'beeriness', without starting to taste like some form of hard liquor or wine instead, as some of the other strong ale varieties are prone to.
