Members dr_love6977
Ok, so I bought a secondary hard drive off of ebay for my desktop. Apparently it was the system hard drive for another computer that never got erased. Every time I try to start my computer now, it tries to boot from the secondary hard drive. How do I get my comp to boot from my existing hd?!?
Members MattACaster
YOu need to get into the PCs BIOS. It should say how to do that just as the PC starts. Usually it's something like F2, F1, or Delete. Once in there, there will be a section that deals with device boot order. Just move your original HD in front of the new HD. Then save and exit. How do I get my comp to boot from my existing hd?!? There will be some button you hit before the OS loads that will give you a set of boot options. I'd try F10 first, then try other ones from there. When I boot it gives me the Dell startup page (and my comp isn't even a Dell) and says F2 for BIOS, but when I hit F2 it does nothing.
