Members strtdv
My brother has an Engl Screamer 50 combo, and the power tubes are labelled as 'Engl 5881WXT', which seem to be rebranded Sovket 5881WXT's He needs to replace the power tubes. Can you run this amp on 6L6GC's and/or KT66's? From what I've read the 5881WXT's are 30 watt, 500 V plate voltage tubes which makes them identical to 6L6GC's. OTOH, Tung-Sol reissue 5881's are rated at 25watt 400V plate voltage. I've read that Engl amps run at 460 Volts. Has anyone here used 6L6GC's in place of 5881's in their Engl? Any help would be great, thanks.
