Members mparsons
Same {censored} as all my clips... This time I dual miced with the SM57 and e906 though. Members Say Ocean
Hm... symphonic black metal isn't my main thing, but this sounds pretty sweet. Get a better symphonic synth though

Members thinkpad20
Guitar tone sounds very good; cool stuff. But seems like either the bass is too low in the mix, or there isn't one and there needs to be... other than that I'd just say try to make the drums a little more natural sounding. They sound much better than your earlier programming efforts, but still very mechanistic. You really just need to get obsessive about varying the velocity of every hit. Variation, both in dynamics, tone, phrasing, etc, is the main thing that makes a human drummer different from a drum machine. Also, please don't put the djenty hxcx breakdown in the music... Edit: pretty sure there is no bass at all... so yeah, bass is needed.
Members mparsons
Yeah, no bass. I always borrow my room mates and I'm away on Christmas vacation... so no bass for me. And don't worry, no breakdowns. Well actually there is a SWEET {censored}ing piano/guitar br00tality breakdown in this song but its not hxc or djenty at all. Just pure {censored}ing rage and aggression.
Members thinkpad20
I see you changed your bands name... good move. "The Matt Parsons Band" sounds like a lounge band for wedding gigs and birthdays, not black metal
Members mparsons
Yeah I'm not sure what I'll call the band/project... That's still just the name of the "demo". I'm having a really hard time getting a name that I think fits the diversity in music I want to release while still selling everything well. Members thinkpad20
Well whatever you pick I think it'll be better than "The Matt Parsons Band."
Members sled
hum... the gtr tones seem really thin for this genre.
Members thinkpad20
hum... the gtr tones seem really thin for this genre. More layers might help, but I don't think it's the guitar tone itself... more the mix, and the lack of a bass.
Members sled
More layers might help, but I don't think it's the guitar tone itself... more the mix, and the lack of a bass. IDK... I'd redial the gtr. that's a busy tune and more layers would be some feat to keep tight.

Members mparsons
It's quad tracked as is. It does need a bass to fill out the lower mids and... bass. I tried using a synth but it sounded absurd.

Members TheAmazingBlob
I agree that it's kind of lacking in bass/thickness, but yeah. Nice otherwise Oh, and br00tzbucker?
Members mparsons
Thanks for listening! The br00tzbucker is a custom shop pickup that Ansley had made. That's what he calls it. I can't remember the exact specs but I think its an Alnico 8 magnet with a ridiculously high output, designed to be like an EMG 85 but smoother, thicker, and more musical. It's definitely in the same tonal region as the EMG 89 it replaced but in my opinion its a improvement. The same tone but better.
Members XiXora
It sounds a little like Age of Silence imo
Members mparsons
Thanks for listening! Just checked Age of Silence out, pretty cool stuff. I see the resemblance.
Members grantlack
needs bass, needs some left hand on the piano stuff, all the key parts sound pretty thin. that section at the end sounds a bit too repetitive and "trying to be a breakdown" for my liking, but as always ymmv. other than ^^^, sounds pretty solid.
