Members strtdv
My amp has a parallel FX loop which I almost never use, but today I thought I'd put my delay pedal in the loop instead of in front of the amp. I noticed a fairly big boost in volume. I thought it must be the pedal, or user error, so I took out the pedal and just ran a patch cable between the FX send and return on the amp. Sure enough, a boost in volume. I think I quite like the sound I'm getting with it, so I might leave it there.. Anyone else noticed this before, and can anyone explain why it might be happening? Members DeadNight Warrior
It's the parallel nature of the loop. If you set your delay pedal to a 100% wet mix, it should stay the same volume and just add the delay. Coz you're setting the delay to also include part of the dry mix, that'll get mixed in with the unprocessed signal and hence, more volume.

Members strtdv
I don't think the effects loop is tube driven.. It's unlikely to do the amp any harm with a patch lead between the send and return, so I think I might just leave it there..
