Members LeonardScaper
A little assonance....a little dissonance...... I think I actually like the second verse better. Not quite sure yet if the story line gets across......until the very end of course, where I may owe Mr. Bowie an apology. Long Ride Home The stars called out this morning From a cold sky I could see my breath So I knew I was still alive It's out there in the distance But it's not my time to go And it's a long ride home 'Cause it's a long way It's a long ride home Instr. Don't you ever wonder When you lie awake at night And don't you get that feeling When the stars are out so bright And when you close your eyes Does one light shine alone Well it's a long ride home 'Cause it's a long way Yes it's a long way

Members grace_slick
Oh, now I've got a totally different image in my head...love the raspy type vocals. Who does this remind me of...The Band maybe? I don't really know, but I like it a lot.
Members rockinrobby
A little assonance....a little dissonance...... I've had too much distonance from a little assonance for way too long... I like it, I like the harmonies? But someone they seem like they're out of place in parts? The rest of the song is classic you, with the exception of some of those FX.
Members LeonardScaper
.......with the exception of some of those FX. Couldn't help myself............. ..........looking for something spacey in the synth and was decidedly unmoved by anything. So I plugged the old SG into my Classic 30 and stuck Mr. Echo in between. All those crazy sounds went down live in one take........I kept lifting my hand off the strings and twisting the heck out of the knobs. It was great fun but I'm most likely pull most of that stuff out before this gets wrapped up. I always appreciate your particular attention to harmonies as you, my friend, are quite the singer. I'll see if I can tuck them in a bit more. And thank you, Grace.....glad you like it.
Members LeonardScaper
And so.......I have realized that this may be the song I have been waiting for. I remixed it last night and came away with an odd feeling of completion. I do believe that I'll take a little break.

I never felt like I completed a song... bah, I get worked up too easily! Looking forward to hearing the song, I liked what I heard so far.

Members Marshal
Smashing, baby ! Couple comments. The harmonies jump on the listener uexpectedly. You might try cutting back the other voices to be more etheral background. And try to cut out the attack on "L" in "Long way" for the other voices. Let that phrase start with the solo voice, and then get reinforced by the harmony. (Other voices sing "ong way") There's a mike pop in there. Cut it out. The space ship stuff is a little too hokey. It reminds me of Bruce Cockburn's song, "Look How Far" (That's a good thing.) On this rooftop where we're sittingIn the rays of the setting sunGlasses of wine on a crate between usCatch the light -- seem to glow from within And there's a laughHanging in the airAnd there's noDesperation anywhere So many miles, so many doorsSome need patience, some need forceAll fall open in their own due courseTo allow us this time And your limnedIn light, golden and thinLooks to meLike you're lit up from within And look how far the light cameLook how far the light cameLook how far the light cameTo paint youThis way And I picture us in this lightFriendship a fine silver webStretched across golden smoky hazeAnd this is simpleAnd this is grace And this lightIs a guest from far awayPassing throughThe last whisper of day And look how far the light cameLook how far the light cameLook how far the light cameTo paint youThis way
Members LeonardScaper
There's a mike pop in there. Cut it out. Excellent help there.......... I'll rework those harmonies. I think the 'mic pop' may be one of the odd sounds from the analog delay madness. I know that stuff is a bit hokey, but it was so much fun doing it all analog and live like that......and I think I need it to get the outlandish idea across that our friend is a space traveler who us stranded here. Do we need to put up a poll?

Very nice.
Members LeonardScaper
(unless we're talking about David Bowie's Man Who Fell to Earth character, which, of course, is itself heavily metaphoric)... Well....I was a bit concerned about the bit......'star man, waiting in disguise'....where I was evoking Bowie's 'There's a star man waiting in the sky'. Not that I intended to do that, mind you.
