I've been writing on self-imposed deadlines, trying to get material ready for the band

Is this the duo with the upright bassist? I checked out the videos a while ago. You guys do seem to have something and I am interested to see how it develops. There is a delicate balance between sincere authentic retro and ironic hipster retro in the material. I could see you guys donning boaters and striped vests and playing corporate Dixieland trad band gigs or I could see you guys wearing black turtlenecks and porkpie hats and playing coffeehouses/small clubs (with a little more emphasis on the "Rock and Roll" cover style material). But I don't think the two audience groups would co-exist easily.

chugheshc2 is waiting on a two track demo of this, so I need to get these lyrics done.

Verse 1

I try to be calm

In the face of your rage

Your grandmother's face

Your grandfather's rage

Pulls you out of your seat

Chorus 1

A dancing marionette

Tied to the strings of your genes.

Verse 2

"My life is my own

No thanks to you"

Your words hang aloft

And I know that it's true

I had my chance

Chorus 2

But I'm a dancing marionette

Tied to the strings of my genes.

Bridge

I curse you to never feel satisfaction

To see injustice in all of its forms

I bless you with strength

Quickness of mind and

A hurting desire to learn.

I curse you to be unable to follow

This curse and these gifts I give to you

Because I carry them too.

Verse 3

The mirror is cracked

For good and for bad

Your life is your own

Not the one that I've had

You'll make your way to the south

Chorus 3

And the songs you write for your son

Will emerge from your mother's mouth

Verse 4

?

Chorus 4

?

Bridge 2

?

Outro

We're dancing marionettes

Tied to the strings of our genes.
