Members potaetoes Posted September 3, 2009 Members Share Posted September 3, 2009 i believe it! isn't it these with the bottom hung 84's that were a bit on the fritzy side? i asked about them as well-- but mebbe it was the 201 that i'm thinking of! you're thinking of the 20 and 40-watters with EL84s, and the problem was more about the rectifier diodes sitting on the PCB ond overheating, and less about the heat from the tubes themselves. i think the fix for the diodes is to just replace them with longer-legged ones that can sit up off the board. some people also mounted fans to help keep things cool. the OP is talking about the 60-watter, which is just a 2xEL34 version of the 100-watter... they're generally reliable.
