Members EdMan57 Posted September 14, 2009 Members Share Posted September 14, 2009 I asked the same thing to my amp tech,as both my Laney LC15 and Fender Champ 25 have no stand-by switch.He basically said that most amps with relatively low plate voltages really don't need such,though it can't really hurt. The AC30CC is one example. Cathode stripping generally only occurs in large transmitter valves (guitar amps use receiver valves) where plate voltage of 1kV+ is common.
