Members scottsonger
These have been out for a few years. They're basically a bastard imposter amp to the hiwatt name, but demos on youtube sound really good. Does anyone have any experience with them? I'm considering getting one...they have traditional dr103-esque cleans, and also a high gain channel. No point-to-point wiring, but if it sounds good and is reliable, who cares. Members LesPaulCustom79
I have played a '73 Hiwatt DR-103 and a '68 Sound City 120L which was the Dallas Arbiter designed amp that eventually became Hiwatt. Part of my hearing is gone because of those amps.
Members rifftherapy
I played the Hi-Gain 50 head the other day and LOVED the sound of it. Didnt get to crank it but I imagine it would sound huge. Played through the matching 4x12 cab.
Members Robson780
I've heard clips of the Hi Gain Hiwatts and I did notttt like... sounded really fizzy and congested.
Members timmyfirst
Deaf Havana use one, its far from reliable and always sounds a bit confused. Switching is also pretty whack.
Members Chris.novak
I had one for 4 years. + points They react really well to tube changes, I tried many different combinations and got great results. Stock tubes sound "ok" but get some decent ones in there and the amp really comes alive. You get a {censored} load of sounds from it. It does an amazing low gain rock sound. It has master volume so you can crank the power tubes at bedroom levels and it sounds great. The cleans are wonderful, but they arnt as good as a custom. - points Its fooking heavy Only 1 EQ chain, so you can have a great gain channel but the clean suffers. The 100wat is too loud. I play loud, really loud. But I never got to use this thing over half way, even at large venues.
Members Nerine
Meh amps. Classic case of a company trying to cash in a bit on trends. I'd imagine there to be better amps that do the same thing better for less.
