Members tats_dragon
Has anyone used Bourns 91 series pots for guitar? I hear they are decent for audio. Wondering if the common CTS could be improved upon. Jun

Members Macinbest
Precision Electronic Components (PEC) and Clarostat make better potentiometers than CTS imo.. most of them meet or exceed military specs, too
Members tats_dragon
Macinbest,Which models of PEC or Clarostat did you try? I did a quick search for PEC @ Digikey but 500 was a minimum order and the thread dimensions seemed too short. Jun
Members Macinbest
Check out the page #1457 of the DigiKey catalog, you can make parts# from there. http://dkc3.digikey.com/PDF/T063/1457.pdf You can buy one at the time. I just bought a bunch for an amplifier I'll be building (AX84 October). Granted, they are not cheap, but pots is not where you should be cutting most of your budget.. quality has its price, as always.. Here are a few parts# from digikey 250K Audio Taper KA2541S28 500K Audio Taper KA5041S28 1M Audio Taper KA1051S28 (I got mine from DigiKey too) These look like the picture here : http://rocky.digikey.com/WebLib/Precision%20Electronics/Web%20photos/RV4N%20SERIES.jpg I have some of these on one of my guitars and they are flawless, still feel like new after 4 years, despite the multiple re-wirings and eveything I've done. PECs are IMO the best ones you can find. There is a good thread about them here (you have to be a member to access the forum though) : http://www.18watt.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4946 Enjoy
