Members mckinley
Hey everyone, I need to make a new pickguard for my Strat, what is the best material (with a bias towards being easy to work with)? cheers.
Members ririzarry
A pickguard can be made out of practically anything as long as it has enough rigidity to support everything. There's the usual plastic stuff - http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Pickguards/Pickguard_materials.html. I've seen some use plexiglass, sheet metal, acrylic, etc. As far as easy to work with, it depends on the tools you have on hand. Members MDLMUSIC
I bought a 3-pack of floor tiles at the 99 cents store. Just the right size to make a new pickguard for my Squier '51.

Members radonballoon
with pickguards i find it easier to just buy one. if you know how to search ebay you can find them for under 10 bucks shipped. to me that just beats the hassle of shaping one.
