Onto the question. I have a XXX Head that doesn't want to work properly and I want to know what the cause might be. -Powers up. Lights come on all that good stuff.-Tubes do not glow-No sound what so ever, not even a hum or crackle It sounds like the amp is in standby mode. Why would the tubes not be getting power? He shipped it like a moron and it was broken. Knobs were bent, tolex was shredded from just throwing the cord in the flight case, he didn't bother taking out the power tubes and one fell out of it's socket.... and WORSE of all, the chassis bolts came out and was flopping around inside the flightcase (which wasn't a proper fitting flightcase) in result, bent pot shafts. I paid this guy a long time ago and it took him nearly 2 weeks to get it out to me. It took multiple emails requesting for a tracking number, which he never sent till the day it arrived..... which I wasn't home in the morning a delivery was attempted. Thankfully the driver came back in the evening on his way back through my area.... The driver even heard parts rolling around inside the box.. that how f*cked up this amp was. I had to google the dudes phone # and talked to his mother... she was going to make him do the right thing. She's filing a claim with fedex. Now this {censored} tard is holding my money hostage until after the fedex investigation.. WTF!!!! I'm not the one who packed this thing like a moron!!!! I'm giving him till tomorrow afternoon for a FULL refund or calling his local police and exposing all his personal information on Harmony-Central and every other message forum I'm registered with. Don't buy from this moron!!! Tuesday I'm filing a small claim lawsuite against him. He can come to Michigan to defend his case! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Members olejason Posted October 15, 2007 Members Share Posted October 15, 2007 I remember seeing him post about that amp and thought the price was a little suspect considering he changed the tubes and didn't describe there being anything wrong with it. Members tedmich Posted October 15, 2007 Members Share Posted October 15, 2007 Peavey's in addition to being built like tanks have MANY fuses, replace them all for ~$1.50 and it may well come back to life. My Bravo had similar symptoms, after I bought it for $50 a 30c fuse fixed it. FYI some tubes don't glow brightly, some power tubes unless biased hot...A probe in the socket can show you heater or (danger!) B+ voltage. With Peavey's problems are usually fuses>tubes>jacks>pots>caps>transformers and luckily thats from $->$$$ too. FYI a common Ebay type scam is the sale of a busted unit and a carrier claim by the Ahole seller, a variation is packing a "stolen in shipment" decoy with bulk mail filling the package and then claiming theft by UPS, the seller keeps the item, your money AND any settlement.. it only works once but in the case I heard they made $3k...
