Members stompboxfreak72
Currently have the original tubes in my 2008 Splawn. Tungsol el34bs and Tungsol 12ax7 across the board. I have sed winged C el34s in my QR. I only run two tubes for 50 watt mode. The SEDs are great but the price is horrid at around $40 /tube. I was considering using Ruby el34bstr and Tungsols in the preamp. Valve Queen has been very helpful but I have been dragging my feet placing the order because I just don't know what I want to do. Recommendations ? I've read mixed reviews on Ruby so Im torn.

Members stompboxfreak72
Hmph..... had JJ's in my Mesa DR and really did not dig them. Perhaps they are just a bad match for the DR ? I had a Eurotubes kit and I never did like it.

Members Les-Zombie
Ruby el34 bstr sounded better in the nitro than the tungsol el34 i thought, i had both in my old nitro and i liked the ruby the best. I also liked C9 in the pre better than the tungsol pre tubes. I still think the best type of tube for the nitro is kt88 but i know theres alot of people who really like the el34. Members FastRedPonyCar
EL34's in that amp are for pussies. Put some KT88's in it and hear it's true potential. I've always favored the Ruby 88 STR's.
