They have tons of public beaches that you can drink and have bonfires on, so many good memories. great surfing too. Perfect weather, friendly people, great food and shopping and so much to see and do. Point Loma? Lots of titty bars in that neighborhood, even specialized clothes stores for strippers. Not that that's a good thing, but it can't be that bad, can it? Ghetto stuff? Not so much. I can't think of any neighborhood in SD that I would be afraid to ride my bike through. It ain't LA.
