Getting over tone while practicing....

It's rare that my amps even get turned on between gigs or rehearsals. Don't really see the point. "Dialing in" is useless at home since it sounds completely different in the mix, and having a Mrak V, I end up just sitting there compulsively flipping switches and turning knobs to "experiment" for hours when I should be practicing.

There is once instance where I reach for the uninspiring gear to play on. I like to break out the cheap gear that's kind of toneless when a bad guy breaks into the house, points a gun at me, and screams play me something. I kind of want him to not stick around long so I break out the little Behringer amp and the Squier Strat and I start jamming like I mean it. But I don't even tune up or anything.
