Members guitarbilly74
Hey guys.. just recorded this quickly to test the Randall 412XL Mic Emulator output, now that I think I got a hang of getting the signal to the interface at a decent level. I also changed the PI on my amp to a JAN Phillips 12AT7 so I am testing that too. Just a quick 1 minute improvised clip, drums are a static loop from Groove Monkee and I added a bit of delay on the lead tone (cakewalk FX delay plug-in), the rest is all direct with no effects added. What do you guys think? Good enough to cut some demos? http://www.tonefinder.com/files/751347840715-rct.mp3
Members colejustesen
I think that sounds great enough to do demos with! I still get hints of the "direct" sound, if you know what I am trying to say. I can't remember what it sounded like with a 12AX7 in the PI slot though. Overall, I dig it Cole

Members ENdtime
Sounds like my experience with an At7 in my xxx.. Dull.. Actually on leads, it adds a nice smoothness to the tone which may be a good thing depending on the player, but that rhythm tone leaves a lot to be desired.. Plus it sounds very direct. Like one of those Digitech pedals with the cab emulated output..
Members Krank'N
The rhythm does sound a bit like a blanket is on it (maybe drop the mids a little and raise over all level). Lead sounded OK but a bit of verb wouldve helped. IMO leads usually benefit from direct emulations but rhythms sound better with mics.
Members guitarbilly74
yeah I tend to agree. I like the lead tones but not the rhythm tone. Im beginning to think it's the DiMarzio Super Distortion that is sounding muffled for rhythm.
