Members DarkHorseJ27
I'm building something and I got a pair of questions. 1. Where can I get a two position on/off switch? 2. Are input and output jacks themselves the same thing, just in different positions?
Members MattyOvertone
That switch is very common. And yes typically input and output jacks are built the same... though there may be some variations depending on the amp. I have had good luck with Mojo Musical Supply (mojotone.com). They have a decent selection and good prices.

A jack is a jack (1/4" phone) in or out (assuming mono also), but the body material may be metal or plastic as required for robustness or to prevent shorting to chassis, and depending on the features of the input or output circuit there may be extra terminals on the jack for switching other things (like disconnecting an internal speaker when an external is plugged in). Members WRGKMC
An input jack for say an effects unit is different. It has an extra contact that makes aconnection for the negative battery source. The output jack is just a simple two contact jack. The input is three. Members SoldierStape01
As always WRGKMC, brings up the overlooked point in life. A jack is a jack depending on your application. Effects pedals and guitars with active electronics have a 3rd ring for power. As for your switch. I believe both Allparts and MighteyMite carry those switches. If not, and appearance isn't your number one concern, I know for a fact that RadioShack carries them in various sizes.
