Members Dirt Posted May 12, 2005 Members Posted May 12, 2005 I already have an L.R. Baggs Para Acoustic D.I. and am kicking around the idea of getting an M1. I have a cheap Samick A/E that doesn't really sound good at all plugged in. The Para D.I. made some improvement, but I'm still not satisfied. The M1 is appealing to me because there is no real installation work and it is designed to work well with the Para D.I. Also, I can use it for now with the Samick, but can then move it to a new acoustic when I purchase one (also frees me up to looking at straight acoustics rather than acoustic/electrics when the time comes). Anyone have experience with this combo or similar? The soundclips I've heard of the M1 sound good to me. Oh, this would mostly see use in solo acoustic/open mic situations. Thanks.
Members Dirt Posted May 12, 2005 Author Members Posted May 12, 2005 Another piece of information that I forgot...I typically run from the Para D.I. straight to the PA (no amp). Also, I usually play with a pick. I play with heavier strings (.013) and do lots of percussive strumming. I occasionally fingerpick as well.
Members min7b5 Posted May 12, 2005 Members Posted May 12, 2005 I had one for a while. Since you have a preamp you don
Members Jere Mealer Posted May 17, 2005 Members Posted May 17, 2005 I used an M-1 with a PADI for a couple of months on a Larrivee DV-09. Sounded great. I just couldn't hang with the bone colored soundhole pickup. Why Baggs can't make it in black is beyond me.
Members Improviser Posted May 20, 2005 Members Posted May 20, 2005 I believe that you can buy a Takamine-branded Baggs M1 now in black which also has an active/passive switch.
