Members Promethius
This is my favorite all time acoustic album. I always thought he played a D-28 back then. On the cover of Moondance, you see him with one. But listening to the CD again, that's definitely not a D-28. Gibson J-200? Anyone know?
Members JasmineTea
I think just as good a question would be: What kind of mic etc was used to make the recordings? That is a great album.
Members Wrenjka
Found this: I used to work at a studio call A&R where Van recorded the classic Astral Weeks (I'm not sure of the spelling. I remember the engineer telling me they used a U47 for his vocals. The engineer asked Van to please take the gum out of his mouth while he was singing, and he STUCK IT ON THE MICROPHONE (the gum). It was (and is ) a very expensive mic. This was one the old 47's , they have their own power supply, and the power supply has atube in it that has to warm up. You have to let it warm up for about half an hour.
