opinions needed on an old Barcus Berry

Hi!

I've just found an old Barcus Berry preamp.

Its the 1330 standard preamp.

It comes very cheap.

Have you ever played with one of those preamps?

Opinions?

Isn't this model more than 20 years old? I have an old BB preamp, not sure which model, but it's vintage late 70's. Very simple with only a few controls. It works just fine to boost the signal of any piezo pickup, but the modern pre-amps available these days like a Baggs Para di sound far better. Then there's the Fishman Aura which simulates a microphone, but these will cost a lot more than an old BB.

Yes, it does not sound great. There are many piezo-pickup preamps that sound better.
