Members Raspberry Posted December 13, 2005 Members Posted December 13, 2005 Can any recommend some guitar strings which will give my acoustic a real twangy country sound? Some that's easy to hammer and pull and etc. I don't play that much acoustic so I have to remember to put in a bit more effort into my technique (since you don't have to pummel the fretboard of an electric) so it's a bit annoying. Any suggestions?
Members JasmineTea Posted December 13, 2005 Members Posted December 13, 2005 You can get twang by lowering the action. If you want lighter strings, I would'nt go lighter than .011. My 000-1 is set up low with .011s and it's nice and twangy. It'll twang with .012s too but I have to pluck a little harder.
Members zookie Posted December 13, 2005 Members Posted December 13, 2005 You can also buy sets of Bluegrass strings now. E A D strings are a heavier guage, proportionately, than the G B E strings. It gives you a bassy low end with a twangier high end. I don't have much experience with them. I put a set on my Tak recently and have liked the sound.
