New case smell

Any good ideas for getting rid of the glue smell in a new case? I just got a new banjo case (I know, not a guitar, but it's still acoustic!), and it smells very strongly of glue... I have had it sitting outside to air out all day, but is there anything else that can be done?

If climate and weather permit, nothing works better than leaving it open outside during a sunny weekend day or two.

After one day, it is much better, so I think a few more days should do it.

I've put one of those car air freshener tags that you hang on the rearview mirror into a ziploc bag and stuck it in the compartment in my jumbo's case. It hasn't really gotten rid of the smell, but it's made it more bearable.

 

If I didn't think the neighbors' animals (or birds) might come and "mark" it, I might be inclined to leave the case on the back porch on a sunny day.

The odor is caused by the carriers in the adhesives volatizing. Heat and good air flow will usually accelerate this process (depending on the adhesives used).

either leave outside if possible with lid open or car air freshner or febreeze should do the trick.
