Members flip333
I got to play a GC7. Grand concert, red cedar top, rosewood B/S, 24.9 scale. This guitar really impressed me. I have always stayed away from Taylors because I was told they were too tinny. This one had plenty of bass and sounded very warm, rich, and resonant with some woody presentation. I really liked it. Would like to compare to a GC3 which is spruce top and mahogany B/S. I am playing fingerstyle mostly these days. I don't need a large guitar to strum hard for massive projection. Getting away from dreads maybe (playing a refrigerator). What's your experience/opinion/idea about these guitars? Maybe I need to explore some more. This would replace my Sigma DR-41. The other option is the Recording King J0-227..... or the Johnson J0-26 or J0-27 ...
Members OldGuitarPlayer
The Taylor looks really nice. I bet it sounds really nice. I also like the look of the Johnson Carolina Series and they are in my type of price range. I have no experience with either of those guitars but based on the price and the materials used on the Johnson I think I would be inclined investigate them. Members flip333
And DonK really likes his Johnson JO-27. He says it is virtually a Martin 000-28EC. He has some expensive guitars to compare it to. The new version of the Johnson JO-27 is the Recording King that doesn't say "Johnson" on it.
