Members nylon rock
! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! For my Martin OMC-21, I took one of these: removed the plastic guitar-top scratcher on it, slapped one of these on the other side: added water , and placed the whole thing in the soundhole with both tabs holding it in place. It looked so good, I decided to play the guitar like that for a while. If I pick the strings right at a certain spot, my guitar sounds like an electric guitar--sort of resophonic. And I can separate the notes much cleaner since the sound isn't as open and airy. I can't believe how good it sounds and the interior stays humidified while I play it. . Members Samilyn
Interesting concept, playing with the humidifier in place, kind of like a soundhole cover. I would never have thought to try it. (Of course, I live in a humid climate and only rarely do I need a humidifier.)
Members outdoorgb
Here in the Willamette Valley we finally dipped below 45% RH. House is sitting at 38% now, sponges in place. Funny, my instructor has about 12-15 cases in his studio filled with stuff from 1967 forward...doen't even worry about humidity, never has. Members Cripes
That's what I left on a seldom played guitar and it caused moisture swelling in the neck above the neckblock with a resultant bulge in the fretboard at that location. I let the guitar hang in ambient room humidity and the bulge receded completely within a couple weeks. I prefer to humidify/dehumidify the whole room now if at all possible. Members nylon rock
Thank you, Cripes. I took it out of the sound hole again, and just tuck one side into the guitar like everyone else. But the guitar remains in its case during the winter months and I have another humidifier up by the headstock to humidify the frets too. Still, I did like the resophonic sound for an hour or so.
