Members baldbloke
I'm really starting to favour the Martin Silk and Steel strings I put on my Tanglewood tw130 mahogany guitar. This is the first time I've used Silk & Steel strings. Now that they are played in a bit they have lost the jangle that I associate with brand new strings. I'm really enjoying them now. This cheap beater of mine is becoming my favoured guitar due to the tone of these strings. Thing is, I still feel that they lack firmness. That is, they feel soft to my fretting hand and it's too easy to inadvertently bend when I don't want to. I can't remember what gauge they are but I do recall looking for a heavyish gauge when I bought them. Question is, can I get silk and steel strings and still get the firmness (best term I can think of at the moment) that normal medium gauge offers? Members baldbloke
Tune up to F#.......! Now, that's clever. I'll give it a go. Edit: Just tried the first 3 strings. Frightened of putting too much tension on. I'll give it a go to F.

Members Brindleleaf
I think the Martin FX130 Silk and Phosphor Strings have a LITTLE more tension....(and it's fun to try out different strings so I think you should do that..lol!)
