Members JoeBoy
I want one of the SX 62s but I want to do it up in Seafoam Green. Since its new, I was wondering if the finish could be sanded a little and the green layed down?
Members Bmajor
Haven't done it myself but I plan to. Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong but I think the only thing you need to be careful of is if you're painting a lighter color over a darker color, it's going to take more paint/coats. Members k4df4l
First thing to consider is that you are going to wind up with a whole lot of finish on the guitar when you are done. Look into the compatibility and method of using the intended finish with the existing one and you will find out exactly how to do it if you want to go that route. Members JoeBoy
Yep, good advice. I am considering going lite with the green to see what the black underneath will bring out through the green.
Members jjpistols
They seem to have a thick ass clear coat on them. I'm thinking of refinning one of mine white, or maybe doing it to a third one. Yeah, you heard it here first.
Members Bmajor
FWIW: GuitarWorld has a new running article called "Finishing School" that's discussing this exact process. The next issue (July) should be the one where they finally get into it. Also, try ReRanch.
