Members mysterybat35
Hey, Would tele lipsticks work in a strat? I saw one of my fav. guitarists with one of his old strats. The lipsticks were flat, not rounded. They look like the kind you find on teles. I was just wondering if they would work and how much trouble it would be to do so. Thanks MB35
Members AtomHeartMother
It's possible, but I believe you'd need a pickguard that is specially routed for a Tele pickup. I'm not positive though.
Members jjpistols
were they smaller than regular strat pups? if not, maybe they were chrome covers of some sort Lace does Sensors in chrome, maybe? was it all 3 positions?
Members LPbluesboy
ask vintage clubber!http://monstertoneguitars.com/_wsn/page2.html see that strat with the pearloid pickguard with the lipstick pickups? He does pre-wired pickguards or something toohttp://monstertoneguitars.com/_wsn/page3.html I think there is one for the lipstick pickups!
Members Blackface
Even though it has a chrome cover, a tele pickup is not a lipstick. Tele pickups have regular pole pieces just like a strat pickup with a chrome cover. I'm pretty sure lipstick pickups are just coils wrapped around a magnet with no pole pieces. Members jjpistols
VC's Strat has Dano-style lipsticks. IIRC, they are Seymour Duncans, but now Armstrong makes 'em, too. But that is different from tele and strat pups.

Yeah, I special ordered those Duncan Lipsticks before I became a Kent Armstrong dealer. IMHO I paid way too much for the Duncans - about $220.00 for the set. I sell the Armstrongs for quite a bit less and IMHO they are just as good as the Duncans when I A/B'd them. This is the pickguard I did for JoeBoy with the Armstrongs in it...This is my MIM '50's strat with the Duncans in it...
